Avocado, Honey & Co.: The Best Do-It-Yourself Face Masks For Every Skin Type

We’ll take a moment to ourselves now and make our face masks. Here you will find the best DIY recipes for every skin type. Bet you already have most of the ingredients in the fridge anyway?

When the days get shorter and darker, we finally have time to take care of our well-being and skin. What could be nicer than an intensive beauty program with homemade masks? After all, we often have everything we need for a self-made mask in the fridge or kitchen shelf. This saves us money on ready-made masks and plays it safe for harmful ingredients, preservatives, etc.

The Perfect Preparation: Apply Masks – This Is How It Works

If you want to take care of your skin with masks, you should optimally prepare for it.

Step 1: clean

Thoroughly remove environmental dirt and sebum, ideally with a mild cleansing foam or lotion, and then tone the face to remove any last residue.

Step 2: peeling

Then it would help if you did a peeling so that old flakes of skin can be removed and the care substances from the mask can be better absorbed. If you want to do your peeling, you can rely on sugar as a peeling substance. Mix this with a bit of coconut oil and gently circle your face – the refined grains gently remove deposits.

Step 3: Apply the mask and let it work.

It is best to use a spoon or a wooden spatula for application and spread the paste over the face. Then let the mask work for about 15 to 20 minutes. Of course, you can also apply the mask with your fingers. But wash thoroughly beforehand.

Step 4: take off the mask.

To remove the mask, first, use facial tissue to remove the mass roughly. Then wash off with water and clean with a cotton towel. If you want to do without a pad and cosmetic tissue for the sake of the environment, you can also use a damp washcloth.

Since you mix the masks directly with fresh food and do not contain any preservatives, you should use the mask directly and not store it in the refrigerator for several days. Otherwise, the vitamins and active care ingredients contained in it will quickly expire and can no longer develop their full effect on the skin of the face.

Recipe: Make Your Face Mask Against Dry Skin

Dry skin lacks moisture – and that, like skin-repairing fats, is in abundance in avocados. That is why we rely on the healing power of superfoods for dry skin.

Ingredients:

  • ½ avocado
  • 1 lemon
  • ½ tbsp natural yogurt
  • 1 teaspoon honey

Preparation:

First, mash half the avocado with a fork. Add a splash of lemon juice (so that the mask doesn’t turn brown later) and half a spoonful of yogurt. Add the teaspoon of honey and mix everything in a blender to a creamy paste. Then leave it on for 15 minutes. For a velvety-soft complexion!

Recipe: Make A Face Mask Against Pimples Yourself

Ingredients:

  • 3 tbsp clay or healing clay
  • 1 teaspoon activated charcoal
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 5 drops of lavender oil or tea tree oil
  • 2 tbsp green tea

Preparation:

Mix all the ingredients in a bowl until you get an excellent, smooth, thick mass. This mask sticks to the face and cleanses the pores. Therefore, you can take it off without water and rub it off gently. This works like a gentle peeling (so do not peel with this mask beforehand!).

Recipe: Homemade Face Mask For Acne

Every dermatologist, really everyone, advises against taking too much care with acne. But what every professional recommends is black tea because it dries the skin very gently with its tannins. Either you put the brew on cotton pads and place it on the skin like a fleece mask, or you make a mask like this:

Ingredients:

  • 2 tea bags of black tea
  • 1 tbsp quark

Preparation:

Pour hot water over the tea bags. Let it steep for about 15 to 30 minutes. Then mix two to three teaspoons of the tea stock with the quark and pour onto the skin. Leave on for 15 minutes and lose weight!

Recipe: Make Your Anti-Aging Face Mask

Iron away wrinkles? This is, of course, just as impossible with homemade masks as with conventional purchased masks. But you can benefit from an extra helping of firming and moisturizing ingredients from honey, olive oil, and banana.

Ingredients:

  • 1 tbsp honey
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • ½ banana

Preparation:

Put the banana in a bowl and puree. Mix the honey and olive oil evenly and well.
