Crispbread Diet: This Is How Healthy The Weight Loss Method Is

If you love bread and want to lose weight, you should take a closer look at this crunchy product: crispbread is low in calories but still contains essential nutrients and minerals. Here, you can find out how the crispbread diet works and whether it can even keep what it promises.

As the name suggests, the crisp, thin bread from Sweden is at the center of the diet in the crispbread diet. With this weight-loss concept, you should take it three times a day to tumble the pounds.

Lose Weight With Crispbread?

What makes crispbread so suitable for weight loss? A slice has around 30 to 40 calories, depending on the variety – and still contains a lot of fiber, which will keep you full for a long time and stimulate the metabolism.

But be careful; not all crispbreads are the same. The thick, crispy slices with Emmentaler, for example, even top the energy content of a piece of bread.

The blood sugar level is precisely the other way around: it rises slowly after consumption and lasts for a more extended period before it gradually falls again. The hunger signals are sent relatively late in the body, and the feeling of satiety lasts longer.

For comparison: a slice of bread has around a hundred kilocalories, depending on its size. Most of the time, however, it doesn’t stop at a slice of bread. If you swap this for two to four pieces of crispbread, you have saved a few calories.

The crunchy bread usually consists of rye or whole wheat flour, which contains essential minerals and vitamins. For example, you can get zinc, iron, vitamin B1, vitamin B2 and magnesium with crispbread.

Crispbread Diet: A Typical Day

If you want to try the crispbread diet, you can be sure of one advantage: there are no complicated dietary rules.

You eat a maximum of three slices of crispbread per meal and supplement the snack with healthy spreads or cold cuts. For example, turkey strips, lettuce, cream cheese, and vegetables are suitable.

On the other hand, sweet and sugary foods such as honey, jam, and Nutella are taboo. These ensure a rapid rise and subsequent fall in insulin levels, which leads to cravings.

It is also a good idea to avoid alcohol while you are on a diet. Exercise is also essential: it should be at least 30 minutes a day to lose weight.

Does The Crispy Diet Do What It Says On The Tin?

Although crispbread contains many minerals, the nutritional concept is still too one-sided in the long run. The reason: Other essential nutrients cannot be absorbed through the consumption of crispbread alone.

You can counteract this deficit with the choice of spreads – but this is only recommended for a short time. The bread also contains a high proportion of acrylamide, one of the substances that can cause cancer.

If consumed occasionally, this is not a problem for those who only eat crispbread for a long time but ingest the substance in such large quantities that it could ultimately be harmful to health.

Incidentally, crispbread can be safely protected from moisture and light, for example, in a can, for up to a year. To keep it nice and crispy, it should be stored separately from fresh bread.

Although the crispbread diet can achieve visible results in the short term because you save a lot of calories by exchanging it for traditional bread, doctors recommend that anyone who wants to lose weight in a long time prefers a balanced diet.

This should contain plenty of vegetables and fruits in moderation and complex carbohydrates, and healthy fats. Lean meat and fish or legumes and green vegetables are ideal sources of protein.

You should also get enough exercise, drink plenty of water and avoid alcohol if you want to lose weight.
