Reproducing the beauty treatments offered in a spa can be complex, but it is not impossible. With a few simple precautions, we can treat ourselves to pampering moments at home without spending much. Stressed out from a busy week? Do you want to relax without leaving the house or spending a fortune? Don’t worry. We understand how you feel.
Booking a spa day can be out of reach at certain times. But that doesn’t mean we can’t take care of ourselves. For this reason, we have created a short guide to creating a mini spa right in your home. You can enjoy relaxing massages, hot baths and skin care pampering, all from the comfort of your home.
Body Scrub: Prepare Your Skin
To prepare your skin for spa treatments, starting with a body scrub is essential. Opt for specific cosmetic products or create a homemade scrub using simple ingredients. An inexpensive and natural option is to mix a couple of tablespoons of honey, a teaspoon of extra virgin olive oil, and a tablespoon of sugar.
If you want a more intense exfoliating action, you can replace the sugar with brown sugar, which has a coarser grain. This will allow you to obtain a low-cost, natural and eco-sustainable scrub. If you have a traditional horsehair glove, you can use it instead of the scrub. Remember that exfoliation is important, but you must do it carefully and without overdoing it!
A Nice Hot Bath
The spa is widely associated with relaxation and the image of thermal waters, giving us instant relief in our minds. Even at home, we can start relaxing by creating a pleasant warm bath enriched with essential oils such as mandarin, lavender and chamomile, known for their calming properties for the body. For an extra touch, you can add a handful of Epsom salt, ideal for those who want to act on excess liquids thanks to its draining properties.
Body Massage
After completing the previous steps, your body will be perfumed, relaxed and with incredibly soft skin thanks to the combined effect of the scrub and oils. Now you can treat yourself to a pleasant, relaxing massage using body cream or scented oil. The main goal is to release tension from the nerves and muscles. To create the perfect atmosphere, we recommend adding a background of relaxing music. If you’re a jazz fan, you could create a playlist to fit while sipping herbal tea or your favorite beverage to satisfy even your most discerning taste buds.
Face Cleaning
And here is the magical moment you can dedicate yourself to your face. Just like for the body, it is important to prepare the skin of the face to get the maximum benefits from wellness treatments. How can you do it? You can start with vapors which, in addition to opening the pores and facilitating manual facial cleansing, will also benefit your mind. Add a few drops of relaxing essence to the hot water for an even more pleasant experience.
After about a quarter of an hour, you can proceed with a delicate cleansing of the face using handkerchiefs or toilet paper. However, we do not recommend performing a too-aggressive scrub or peel immediately after cleansing. When the skin is subjected to excessive stress, it also tends to lose its aesthetic beauty. The watchword is to listen to your body.
Face Mask
Opt for a purifying mask if you don’t have much time for manual face cleansing. You can choose between seaweed or clay masks. Clay masks are easier to use at home and offer deep skin cleansing. After face and body treatments, moisturize the skin with emollient creams. Don’t forget to pay attention to the eye area, using a specific mask. Gently massage with light strokes from the center outwards. Choose emollient creams that suit your skin type and apply them all over your body. Enjoy this moment of care and pampering for soft and radiant skin.
Manicures & Pedicures
In your home spa, having a mini manicure and pedicure kit is essential. Start with a scrub to remove dead skin cells and soften your hands. For a beautiful manicure, choose between regular, semi-permanent or gel polish. First, use products to remove the cuticles that could compromise the life of the polish. Next, proceed with filing, applying color and top coat.
After a pleasant foot bath, we recommend adding essential oils and salt to the water. Follow up with a rasp to remove dry skin. To get soft and well-groomed feet, scrub and apply a full-bodied cream that hydrates and softens the skin. We hope you enjoyed these tips and that they help you treat yourself to pampering in your home spa. All you have to do is try and enjoy the treatment.
